Description

Anti-Connexin-36 (Cx36 or Gjd2) antibody is validated on mouse tissue and recommended for immunofluorescence labeling, IHC, or western blot of materials from rodent and human tissues. Connexins are the structural proteins making the gap junction. Each gap junction is composed of two hemichannels, or connexons, which consist of a hexameric assembly of connexin proteins. Connexin-36 is encoded by the Gjd2 gene in human. Connexin-36 is also known as gap junction protein delta-2 or alpha-9. Connexins have four transmembrane domains, two extracellular loops, amino- and carboxyl-terminal cytoplasmic domains, and a cytoplasmic turn motif. Connexin-36 is is a member of the connexin gene family that is expressed predominantly in mammalian neurons.
