Desmoglein-2 (DSG2) Antibody
Description
Anti-Desmoglein-2 (DSG2) antibody is validated on mouse tissue and recommended for immunofluorescence labeling, IHC, or western blot of materials from rodent and human tissues. Desmoglein-2, also known as Cadherin family member 5 (CDHF5), is encoded by the DSG2 gene in human. Desmoglein-2 is a member of the desmoglein protein subfamily. Desmogleins, along with desmocollins, are cadherin-like transmembrane glycoproteins that are major components of the desmosome. Desmoglein-2 contains an amino-terminal extracellular domain or ectodomain or EC domain that is followed by a transmembrane domain and a carboxyl-terminal intracellular domain. The extracellular domain mediates intercellular interactions in the desmosome whereas the intracellular domain mediates Desmoglein-2 interaction with Plakophilins. Desmoglein-2 is highly expressed in the epithelium as well as in the cardiac muscle. In the cardiac muscle, Desmoglein-2 is localized to the intercalated discs which mechanically couple cardiac cells to function in a coordinated syncytial structure.
