About the Target

EMT is a target of interest in many antibody-based workflows. Occludin is a transmembrane protein and a key component of tight junctions (TJs), belonging to the tight junction-associated MARVEL (TAMP) protein family characterized by a MARVEL domain with four transmembrane helices. Structurally, occludin contains a long cytoplasmic C-terminal domain involved in protein-protein interactions and phosphorylation, two extracellular loops, four transmembrane domains, and a short N-terminal cytoplasmic domain. Depending on the literature source, EMT may also be discussed as Occludin and EMT; epithelial.

Reported cellular context includes cell junction, cell membrane, membrane, and tight junction, which can matter when signal is compared across treatments or changing cell states.
