About the Target

Ku80, encoded by the XRCC5 gene, is a key component of the Ku heterodimer, partnering with Ku70 to mediate the non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) pathway, one of the primary mechanisms for repairing DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs). Ku80 comprises three main domains: an N-terminal von Willebrand A (vWA)-like α/β domain involved in protein-protein interactions, a central β-barrel domain that encircles DNA ends, and a C-terminal α-helical arm that stabilizes interaction with Ku70 and binds the DNA-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit (DNA-PKcs).
