About the Target

A20 is a zinc finger protein which has been characterized as a dual inhibitor of NF-kappa B activation and apoptosis. It is also referred to as TNF-α-induced protein 3 (TNFAIP3), is cytokine-inducible protein. A20 has been shown to interact via its N-terminal domain with TRAF1 and TRAF2, which are part of the NF-κB activation cascade initiated by TNF as well as with TRAF6, which is part of the IL-1- and LPS-induced signaling pathway to NF-κB. Depending on the literature source, TNFAIP3 may also be discussed as A20/TNFAIP3.
